LA UNION-INIHANAY ng Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) ang San Fernando na “Digital Cities 2025”.
Ang 25 lungsod kabilang na ang San Fernando (People’s City), ay pinili sa pagiging readiness to attract investors sa kanilang Information Technology business processing management industry base sa kanilang remarkable capacity in talent availability, infrastructure, cost, at business environment.
Kabilang sa mga lungsod na tinaguriang “Digital Cities 2025” ay ang San Fernando, La Union; Balanga City, Batangas City, Cabanatuan City, Dagupan City, General Santos City, Iligan City, Iriga City, Laguna Cluster (San Pablo, Calamba, and Los Baños), Laoag City, Legazpi City, Malolos City, Metro Cavite (Bacoor City, Imus, and General Trias), Metro Rizal (Taytay, Cainta, Antipolo City), Olongapo City, Puerto Princesa City, Roxas City, San Fernando, Pampanga, San Jose Del Monte City, Tacloban City, Tagbilaran City, Tarlac City, Tuguegarao City, Urdaneta City at ang Zamboanga City.
Itong mga digital cities ay centers of focus for the new economic development sa susunod na tatlong taon dahil sa patuloy na paglago sa hanay ng Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) sector at promote countryside development.
“With other listed centers of excellence and next wave cities, the digital cities will make the Philippines become a more digitally-enabled nation, to be globally competitive and relevant as a prime investment destination,” pahayag ng DICT. MHAR BASCO
