Base sa ulat ng Navotas City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), dakong alas-7:30 ng umaga nang biglang sumiklab ang apoy sa isang residentential area sa Brgy. San Rafael Village (SRV).

Mabilis na kumalat ang apoy sa magkakadikit na mga kabahayan na pawang gawa sa lights materials kaya’t agad itinaas ng BFP sa ikalawang alarma ang sunog na idineklarang fireout dakong alas-9 ng umaga.

Ayon sa BFP, isa ang napaulat na namatay na kinilalang si Madel Santos, 50-anyos habang 169 pamilya naman ang nawalan ng tirahan matapos tupukin ng apoy ang 70 kabahayan.

Ipinag-utos naman ni Mayor Toby Tiangco sa City Social Welfare Office ang agarang pagbibigay ng mainit na pagkain, mga kumot, banig at iba pang mahahalagang gamit ng apektadong mga pamilya na pansamantalang nanunuluyan sa SRV Elementary School.

Patuloy ang imbestigasyon ng BFP upang matukoy ang pinagmulan ng sunog at inaalam pa kung magkano ang halaga ng naging pinsala nito sa ari-arian. EVELYN GARCIA
