INIREKLAMO sa Senado ang mahabang quarantine para sa overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
Payag naman umano ang mga OFW sa quarantine bilang pag-iingat na rin ng mga ito.
Pero sinabi ni i Susan Ople, pangulo ng Blas F. Ople Policy Center, na napakatagal ng 10 araw na mandatory quarantine para sa mga OFW na gustong-gusto nang makapilingbang pamilya.
Giit ni Ople, ilan din sa umuuwing OFW ay nabigyan na ng kumpletong bakuna mula sa bansang pinanggalingan.
Aniya, pakiramdam ng mga OFW na sila ay ‘unwelcomed modern-day heroes’.
“Kawawa naman po ‘yung mga OFW. Feeling na nga nila sila ‘yung unwelcomed modern-day heroes, eh,” pahayag ni Ople.
“And sa IATF po, masakit pong marining sa amin, may narinig kami na, may nagsabi sa IATF na baka naman pekehin nila ‘yung vaccination cards nila. Hindi po ganyan ‘yung OFWs natin, ang dami po diyan ang tatagal na sa mga employer bakit naman nila i-jeopardize trabaho nila para mameke ng vaccinaiton card,” dagdag pa niya.
Dahil dito, humihingi sila ng diyalogo sa Inter-Agency Task Force para mapag-usapan ang hiling na mas maiksing quarantine period. LIZA SORIANO
