163 STRANDED OFWs SA MYANMAR NAKAUWI NA

NAKAUWI na sa bansa ang may 163 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) kabilang ang apat na senior citizens, 14 menor de edad at tatlong sanggol.

Karamihan ang mga dumating na OFW ay na-stranded dahil sa travel restrictions dulot ng CO­VID-19 pandemic.

“The DFA works tirelessly to ensure that Filipinos affected by various travel restrictions throughout the world are given the chance to come home,” ayon kay Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Sarah Lou Arriola.

Kasunod ng bagong chartered flights, pumalo na sa 400,000 ang bilang ng overseas Filipinos na na-repatriate simula nang magkaroon ng COVID-19 pandemic.

Mula sa Myanmar, napauwi sa tatlong chartered flights ang kabuuang 334 OFWs.

Ang ikatlong chartered flight mula Myanmar ay sa pangunguna ng Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs at Philippine Embassy sa Ya­ngon.

Samantala, sasailalim ang lahat ng repatriates sa quarantine protocols. LIZA SORIANO
