DUMATING na sa Pilipinas ang dalawa pang bagong biling Acero Class patrol vessel mula sa Israel, sakay ng General Cargo Ship Koga Royal nitong nakalipas na linggo.
Ang dalawang Fast Attack Interdiction Craft (FAIC) ay kasalukuyang nasa Commodore East Posadas Wharf sa Cavite City para sumailalim sa enhancement, maintenance at crew training.
Ayon kay Navy Public Affair Office chief Cdr Benjo Negranza, bago ito ikomisyon sa serbisyo bilang PG 906 at PG907 na magiging bahagi sila ng Acero-class patrol vessels ng Littoral Combat Force ng Philippine Fleet.
Nabatid kay Lt Giovanni M Badidles PN, Director, Fleet Public Affairs Office,, ang dalawang bagong barko ang ika-5 at ika-6 sa 9 na patrol vessel na kinontrata ng Philippine Navy sa Israel Shipyard kasama ang technology transfer sa ilalim ng FAIC Acquisition Project ng Revised AFP Modernization Program Horizon 2.
“Their delivery is part of the FAIC Acquisition Project of the Revised AFP Modernization Program Horizon 2 contracted with Israel Shipyards which include a total of nine platforms, and the transfer of technology to bolster the PN’s shipbuilding capability,” ani Badidles.
“It marks another milestone in the Fleet’s resolve of reinforcing the country’s littoral/coastal defense with modern fast patrol combat vessels that have proven to be highly reliable in addressing current and emerging threats, and transnational crimes,” dagdag naman ni Cdr. Negranza. VERLIN RUIZ
