KUMBINSIDO ang Philippine Navy na ang dalawang barkong pandigma na dinisenyo at ginagawa ngayon ng Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) ay hindi mababang kalidad at kaya nitong makipagsabayan sa kanilang mga naval counter-parts.
Ito rin ang inihayag ni HHI president and chief executive officer Sam H. Ka nang makapanayam ng media.
Ang HHI na isang isang South Korean shipbuilder ay kinontrata ng Department of National Defense para gumawa ng unang dalawang “missile-armed frigates,” para sa Philippine Navy at isa rito ang BRP Jose Rizal (FF-150).
Habang ang sistership nitong BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151) ay sisimulan na ang steel-cutting or construction phase.
Nilinaw ni CEO Sam H. Ka na ang kanilang pamantayan sa pagdidisenyo at paggawa ng mga barko ay ang United States Navy na tinuturing na “world’s most advanced and sophisticated in the world.”
“I saw the modernization program of our (Republic of Korea) Navy for long, even including the Aegis destroyer building process, we already built two Aegis destroyers for our Navy and we are trying to build more units of a more updated Aegis destroyer and we have been building some submarines, frigates, corvettes, many other different type of Navy ships for more than twenty years,” paliwanag pa ni Ka.
Ang tinutukoy ng opisyal ang kanilang guided-missile destroyers na equipped ng Aegis combat system na gumagamit ng powerful computers at radars system para tuntunin at ihatid ang kanilang mga sandata at wasakin ang kanilang kalaban. VERLIN RUIZ
