TINAASAN ng monetary officials ng bansa ang balance of payment (BOP) projection ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) para sa 2021.

Ito ay dahil sa inaasahang mas mabilis na global economic recovery. Gayunman ay binabaan nito ang  2022 forecast sa gitna ng inaasahang mas mataas na imports growth.

Mula sa USD6.2 billion 2021 BOP surplus projection noong nakaraang Marso, itinaas ito ng policy-making Monetary Board (MB) sa USD7.1 billion subalit ang 2022 figure ay ibinaba mula USD3.8 billion surplus sa USD2.7 billion.

“The latest BOP assessment for 2021 reflects sustained optimism, fueled by expectations of improved global and domestic economic landscape, moving into the second half of this year; the better-than-expected global economic outlook for the year driven by upward revision in the prospects for advanced economies, our trading partners,” sabi ni BSP Department of Economic Research (DER) managing director Zeno Ronald Abenoja.
