Nagsagawa kamakailan ang Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region ng ikalawang “Healthy Region 1 Caravan” sa Basca Central Elementary School, Brgy. Basca, Aringay, La Union noong August 2, 2024.
Ito ay kaugnay ng “PuroKalusugan” Program na laying magdala ng mas malapit na healthcare services sa mga tao at upang ma-improve ang kanilang health-seeking behaviors.
Ayon kay Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco, magbibigay ng orientation ang “Healthy Region 1 Caravan” sa mga mag-aaral hinggil sa seven (7) healthy habits of Health Promotion: 1) move more, eat right; be clean 2) live sustainability; 3) get vaccinated; 4) don’t smoke, avoid alcohol, say no to drugs; 5) care for yourself, care for others; 6) practice safe sex; 7) do not harm, put safety first.
“These are essential habits for laying the foundation of a productive education, healthy life and overall well-being,” aniya.
“We want school learners, particularly the adolescents, to partake in the information-dissemination and discussion activity for them to become aware of what makes them healthy and for them to know how to protect themselves from developing serious health problems such as obesity, diabetes and hypertension,” paliwanag pa niya.
Sa nasabing aktibidades, nagbigay sila ng mga serbisyong medikal kasama na ang Philippine Package of Essential Non-Communicable Diseases Intervention (PhilPEN) risk assessment, laboratory tests (urinalysis at blood chemistry), x-ray, dental services at medical consultation, sa 240 residente ng barangay.
Ipinamahagi rin nila ang 23 kaban ng fortified rice sa mga napiling pamilya. Namigay rin sila ng mga Herbal Medicine Access Program (HerbMap) packages sa 50 senior citizens.
Namigay rin sila ng mga quad cane o tungkod sa mga nakatatandang nangangailangan nito sa pang-araw-araw nilang aktibidades.
Bukod dito, nagsagawa rin ng patimpalak para sa “Flex You Outfit of The Day (OOTD) gamit ang mga recyclable materials, na nilahukan ng mga barangay health workers, local official at estudyante.
Cash ang ibinigay na premyo.
Isinagawa ang “Healthy Region 1 Caravan” sa pakikipagtulungan ng Department of Education – Region Provincial Heath Office of La Union, local government of Aringay at Barangay Basca local officials.
