Dikit ang laban at na-outshoot ng Batang Pier ang Road Warriors sa fourth quarter sa pinagsamang lakas nina Sean Anthony, Stanley Pringle, Moala Tautuaa at Nikko Elorde tungo sa panalo.
“We failed to execute well our game plan in the first three quarters. Only in the last period we made it,” sabi ni NorthPort coach Pido Jarencio.
Nalasap ng NLEX ang ikalawang sunod na kabiguan at kailangang kumayod nang husto ang Road Warriors sa susunod nilang mga laro upang makabalik sa win circle.
Nagbuhos si Anthony ng game-high 22 points, 9 rebounds at 7 steals upang tanghaling ‘Best Player of the Game’, habang nag-ambag si Moala Tautuaa ng 18 points at 11 rebounds, at tinalo ang dalawang centers na sina Raul Soyud at dating Blackwater John Paul Erram sa low post.
“All of us stepped up when the game was on the line. We played solid and made points when needed,” sabi ni Anthony.
Maraming sablay at errors ang NLEX sa last quarter at hindi gaanong nakatulong sina high scoring Kevin Alas at Larry Fonacier sa lungkot ni coach Yeng Guiao.
Dinomina ng NorthPort ang last period at umabante sa 75-70 sa back-to-back baskets ni Stanley Pringle.
Panay ang balasa ni coach Guiao sa kanyang players subalit hindi makahulma ng perfect formula para pigilan ang Batang Pier. CLYDE MARIANO
