3 TEAMS SASABAK SA ASIAN MEN’S, WOMEN’S CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

TATLONG koponan — dalawang women at isang men— ang kakatawan sa bansa sa  Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship at Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship sa Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

Ang women’s squads Rebisco at Choco Mucho at ang men’s team Rebisco ay iniharap sa Philippine National Volleyball Federation’s (PNVF) board sa sixth virtual board meeting nito Martes ng hapon.

Inanunsiyo ni PNVF President President Ramon “Tats” Suzara ang bumubuo sa mga koponan matapos na konsultahin sina  Brazilian consultant-coach Jorge Edson Souza de Brito at national team coaches Odjie Mamon (women) at Dante Alinsunurin (men) at irekomenda ni National Team Commission chairman Tonyboy Liao.

Ang bumubuo sa mga koponan ay nagkakaisang inaprubahan ng PNVF board.

Ayon kay Suzara, ang Asian Club Championships for men and women ang unang foreign tournament para sa mga miyembro ng national volleyball teams.

“With these club championships, we are putting in harness the national team program aimed at three major international competitions in 2022,” ani Suzara.

“These are the Asian Games in Huangzhou, Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam and the Asian Senior Women’s Championship that we are hosting in May next year.”

Ang women’s teams ay aalis patungong Nakhon Ratchasima, host ng 2007 SEA Games, sa September 27 para sa torneo na nakatakda sa October 1-7.  Samantala, ang men’s squads ay lilipad sa Thailand sa October 4 para sa kanilang sariling torneo na gaganapin sa October 8-15.

Ang lahat ng tatlong koponan ay suportado ng Philippine Sports Commission at ng Rebisco.

Si Alinsunurin ang magiging head coach ng Rebisco men’s team na kinabibilangan ng core ng national squad na nagwagi ng unprecedented silver medal sa likod ng Thailand sa Philippines 2019 SEA Games.

Si Souza  de Brito naman ang gagabay sa Team Rebisco na pinangungunahan ni veteran Aby Maraño, habang si Odjie Mamon ang hahawak sa Team Choco Mucho kasama si Iris Tolenada bilang skipper.

Ang Team Rebisco ay binubuo nina team captain John Vic de Guzman, Jessie Lopez, Ysay Marasigan, Rex Intal, Mark Alfafara, Nico Almendras, Kim Malabunga, Ish Polvorosa, Francis Saura, Manuel Sumanguid, Josh Retamar, Jao Umandal, Ricky Marcos at JP Bugaoan.

Kasama ni Maraño sa Team Rebisco sina Eya Laure, Jema Galanza, Faith Nisperos, Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Mhicaela Belen, Imee Hernandez, Ivy Lacsina, Rhea Dimaculangan, Kamille Cal, Jennifer Nierva at  Bernadette Pepito.

Makakasama ni Tolenada sa Team Choco Mucho sina Kalei Mau, MJ Phillips, Tin Tiamzon, Kat Tolentino, Mylene Paat, Kianna Dy, Ria Meneses, Majoy Baron, Dell Palomata, Deanna Wong at Dawn Macandili.
