UMABOT na sa apat na Pinoy ang nasawi at 31 ang sugatan sa nangyaring malakas na pagsabog sa Beirut, Lebanon nitong Martes.
Ito ang panibagong ulat na nakarating kahapon sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
“We are saddened by the latest turn of developments. The higher figure comes as our embassy personnel work to ascertain the condition of the Filipinos in its jurisdiction,“ ani Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Sarah Arriola.
Ayon pa kay Philippine Embassy Charge d’affaires Ajeet Panemanglor, may dalawa pang Pinoy ang nananatiling nasa kritikal na kondisyon.
“They are confined and are being monitored at Rizk Hospital,”anang opisyal.
Base sa report, ilang taon na rin nakaimbak sa isang warehouse sa Beirut ang ammonium nitrate na nagresulta nang napakalakas na pagsabog kamakailan.
Dahil dito, 135 katao ang nasawi kabilang ang 4 na Pinoy at 5,000 ang sugatan kasama na rin ang 31 pang Pinoy.
“Our Embassy officials shall continue to ascertain the condition of our community in Beirut. The DFA reaffirms its commitment to bring the much needed support and assistance to our kababayans specially at this hour of need,” sabi pa ni Arriola. LIZA SORIANO
