PAG-AARALAN pa ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang panukalang magpatupad ng fourday work week para mapaluwag ang trapiko sa Metro Manila.
Nauna nang iminungkahi ni House Minority Leader at 6th Dist. Manila Rep. Benny Abante, Jr. ang four-day work week para sa non-frontline gov-ernment agencies na matatagpuan sa EDSA ngayong holiday season.
“I appeal to Malacañang to study the implementation of a four-day work week for non-frontline offices of national government agencies. In the past, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) has issued guidelines for its adoption-but rather than make it optional, I suggest that the Palace consider the feasi-bility of doing this during the Holiday season. This could also serve as a trial period to assess if such a scheme can work long-term,” anang kongresista.
Sinabi ni Duterte na kailangan muna niyang konsultahin ang kanyang Gabinete hinggil sa naturang panukala.
“I have to discuss it with the Cabinet. After, discuss it with [Labor Secretary] Silvestre Bello III and the rest,” aniya.
“I’ve not yet decided, really,” dagdag ng Pangulo.
Tinukoy ni Abante ang eksperimentong isinagawa ng Microsoft Japan sa four-day work week, na nagresulta sa 50% pagtaas sa produksiyon.
“It worked there, it could work here,” dagdag ng kongresista.
Sinuportahan din ni House Committee on Natural Resources Chairman at Cavite Rep. Elpidio ‘Pidi’ Barzaga, Jr. ang nasabing panukala.
Binigyang-diin ni Barzaga na hindi lamang bilang solusyon sa lumalalang trapiko ang naturang mungkahi, bagkus ay marami ring positibong bagay ang maidudulot nito.
Sa kanyang bersiyon ng four-day work schedule, nais ni Barzaga na pumasok ang government employees mula Lunes hanggang Huwebes, mula alas-7 ng umaga hanggang alas-6 ng gabi at may 12:00nn-1:00pm break.
Ang mga nagtatrabaho naman sa private sector ay Martes hanggang Biyernes ang pasok sa kahalintulad ding oras.
“This means office hours will run from 7AM to 12NN and 1PM to 6 PM, or a total of 10 hours a day for four days, thus meeting the required 40 hours of work per week among employees,” paliwanag pa ni Barzaga. . PILIPINO Mirror Reportorial Team
