PUMALO na sa 96 ang nasasawi dahil sa COVID-19 sa Philippine National Police (PNP) makaraang maiulat ang panibagong pagkamatay ng apat pang pulis kahapon.

Tatlong lalaki at isang babaeng personnel ang mga nasawi.

Si Patient No. 93 na may ranggong lieutenant ay nakatalaga sa Cebu City Police Office, si Patient No. 94 ay Police Corporal na naka-assign sa Quezon City Police.

Habang si Patient 95 ay Police Staff Sgt. na mula naman Regional Community Affairs and Development Division sa Visayas Police.

Samantalang si Patient No. 96 ay babaeng 48-anyos na may ranggong Police Executive Master Sgt. na nasa holding unit at uma-attend ng schooling.

Tatlo sa mga nasawi ay hindi bakunado, habang ang isa ay nakatanggap na ng 1st dose.

Ayon sa PNP Health Service, ito ang pinakamataas na ‘new deaths record in single day’ sa police force.

Paliwanag naman ni PNP-Administrative Support to COVID-19 Operations Task Force (ASCOTF) Commander at Deputy Chief for Administration, Lt. Gen. Joselito Vera Cruz, hindi lang sa PNP may malaking bilang ng single day deaths kundi sa pangkalahatan at posible aniya dahil sa pagpasok ng Delta variant sa bansa na 60% highly transmissible kaysa Alpha o UK variant.

“‘Yung increase in COVID-19 deaths naman ay hindi lang sa PNP nangyayari, and this may be attributable sa mga emerging variants like the Delta variant which is 60% highly transmissible than the Alpha or UK variant that is causing the overload of our hospitals and undue stress especially sa ating mga health workers,” ayon kay Vera Cruz.

Paglilinaw naman ng heneral na sa gabay at direktiba ni PNP Chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar ay kanilang ika-calibrate ang health protocol measures ng kanilang mga tauhan lalo na ang mga front liners upang makaiwas sa COVID-19. EUNICE CELARIO
