NILAGDAAN ng pamahalaan ng Filipinas at ng World Bank ang $400-million loan deal upang mapaghusay ang competitiveness at fiscal sustainability ng bansa.
Ang loan agreement ay nilagdaan nina Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III at World Bank acting Country Director Achim Fock.
Sakop ng kasunduan ang development policy loan sa pagpapatupad ng Promoting Competitiveness and Enhancing Resilience to Natural Disasters Sub-Program.
Bahagi ito ng isang three-part loan package mula sa multilateral lender na may kabuuang halaga na $1.2 billion.
“This financing support very clearly helps drive our general effort to build a resilient and competitive society over the medium term. We thank the World Bank for its confidence in our determination to push forward reforms that will create a strong and inclusive economy for our people,” sabi ni Dominguez.
Sa three-tranche loan, ang loan portfolio ng bansa sa World Bank ay tataas sa $1.5 billion hanggang $2 billion taon-taon simula sa susunod na taon.
“The country’s loan portfolio is about three times more than the multilateral institution’s average annual lending commitment of $600 million to the country for the past 10 years.”
