INIHAYAG ng Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) na umaabot na sa 40,875 inmates o persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) na nakapiit sa iba’t ibang detention facilities ng Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) ang fully-vaccinated na laban sa COVID-19.
Ayon sa DILG, ang naturang bilang ay 33% ng kabuuang 123,499 PDLs sa BJMP jail facilities.
Samantala, 75,970 naman o 61.5% ng mga PDLs ay nakatanggap ng first dose ng bakuna.
“Protecting the PDLs through vaccination is at the heart of the BJMP mandate to safe keep and ensure their welfare. We remain committed to this with more than 60% of the PDL population already given their first dose of COVID-19 jabs,” ayon kay DILG Secretary Eduardo Año.
“As part of our commitment, we will not stop until all the PDLs detained in BJMP-supervised jails have been fully vaccinated,” ani Año

Ang Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) ang may pinakamataas na bilang ng mga fully-vaccinated PDLs na nasa 98.28% o 1,084 ng kabuuang 1,103 PDLs, na sinundan ng Northern Mindanao na may 55.73% o 3,049 ng kabuuang 5,471 PDLs, at Bicol Region na may 50.46% o 1,577 ng kabuuang 3,125 PDLs.
Iniulat din ni Año na 15,311 o 81.44% na ng 18,801 BJMP personnel ay fully-vaccinated na rin laban sa COVID-19 habang 15,883 o 84.48% naman ang nakatanggap na ng kanilang first dose.
Tiniyak pa ng kalihim na ang DILG at ang BJMP, na kanilang attached agency ay may ‘constant coordination’ sa Department of Health (DOH) at local government units (LGUs) para sa COVID-19 vaccine shot allocation para sa PDLs.
“With the increased supply of vaccines, LGUs can now provide more vaccines to jails in their jurisdiction so we can now complete the vaccination of our PDLs and BJMP personnel,” dagdag pa ng DILG chief.
