PATAY ang lima katao na umano’y miyembro ng New People’s Army (NPA) makaraang makipagbarilan sa mga tauhan ng Mandaon Municipal Police sa Masbate.

Sinabi ni Police Maj. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, naganap ang insidente sa Barangay Bugtong kahapon.

Ayon kay Calubaquib, magsisilbi sana ang pulisya ng warrant of arrest para sa limang counts ng murder at attempted murder charges laban kay Eddie/Arnold Rosero o alyas Ka Star, isang rebel leader, sa kanyang bahay sa nasabing barangay.

Subalit namataan ng mga kasama ni Rosero ang paparating na pulis kaya nauna ang mga ito na mamaril.

Agad namang nakaganti ang mga pulis at lumaban sa kampo ni Rosero.

Umabot ng 30 minuto ang bakbakan hanggang masawi si Rosero at apat na kasama nito.

Nakuha ng mga pulis sa crime scene ang tatlong
M16 rifles, isang M14 rifle, dalawang .45 caliber handguns, at improvised explosive devices.

Nabatid na si Rosero ay kasapi rin ng NPA Larangan 1 Guerrilla Front.

Pinuri naman ni Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Gen. Guillermo Eleazar ang Police Region Office- 5 sa pagkakaneyutralisa ng limang rebelde.

Sinabi pa ni Eleazar na bahagi ng operasyon ng pulisya ay isekyur ang lugar na dating kilalang magulo kapag mag-eeleksyon. VERLIN RUIZ
