BUMABA ang export sales ng bansa noong Agosto, subalit patuloy sa pagtaas ang exports ng coconut oil, ayon sa Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Tinukoy ang preliminary data mula sa Philippine Statistics Authority, sinabi ng DTI na nagtala ang bansa ng $6.4 billion na export sales noong Agosto, bumaba ng 2% mula sa $6.5 billion sa kaparehong buwan noong nakaraang taon.

“Exports were dragged by the year-on-year decline in exports of electronic products, other mineral products, machinery and transport equipment, and chemicals, which comprise 66.5% share of the country’s total exports in August 2022,” paliwanag ng DTI.

Gayunman, ang year-to-date export sales ay nagkakahalaga ng $51.2 billion, mas mataas ng 4.4% o $2.2 billion kumpara sa kaparehong panahon noong nakaraang taon.

“[C]umulative export growth was driven by higher sales generated from coconut oil, other mineral products, chemicals, other manufactured products, and electronic products,” ayon sa DTI.

Samantala, sinabi ng ahensiya na ang coconut oil ang fastest-growing export commodity group ng bansa, na nagtala ng 96.2% year-to-date growth na may cumulative export sales na umaabot sa $1.6 billion mula Enero hanggang Agosto ngayong taon.

Sa datos, ang export earnings mula sa coconut oil noong Agosto ay tumaas sa $168.2 million, sumirit ng 26.6% year-on-year mula $132.9 million.

“Overall, coconut oil exports have consistently been increasing at double-digit growth rates compared to three time periods: 2021, 2020, and the pre-pandemic average from 2017 to 2019,” ayon sa DTI.
