ADVOCATING FOR ROAD SAFETY, BONG GO EXTENDS AID TO KAPAMPANGANS WHO COMPLETED FREE THEORETICAL DRIVING COURSE IN GUAGUA, PAMPANGA

SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go’s Malasakit Team supported individuals who completed a free Theoretical Driving Course in Guagua, Pampanga, on Thursday, February 1.

Held at Barangay Santo Niño covered court, the assistance provided by Go’s Malasakit Team in coordination with volunteers led by Rolly Guiam included shirts and balls for basketball and volleyball to 450 Kapampangans. There were also select recipients of gift packs.

According to Go, by supporting individuals who have taken the step to complete the Theoretical Driving Course, the program emphasizes the importance of education and preparedness in reducing road accidents and fatalities.

In a country where road safety is a pressing concern, initiatives like this play a crucial role in building a safer and more responsible driving community,” said Go in a video message.

They not only equip individuals with the necessary theoretical knowledge about driving but also instill a sense of responsibility towards their fellow drivers and pedestrians. This, in turn, contributes to the community’s overall well-being by minimizing the risks associated with driving,” he continued.

Moreover, the program highlights the government’s commitment to securing the lives of its citizens through practical and meaningful support. It underscores the belief that by investing in the education and training of drivers, the country can make significant strides towards safer roads and a more secure environment for all.

Go also emphasized the crucial contribution of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to the nation’s advancement. He pointed out that TVET aims to bridge the skills gap and ensure Filipinos across all economic strata access relevant and in-demand skills. This would empower them to secure meaningful jobs and contribute to the nation’s economic growth.

Go, the Senate Committee on Health and Demography chair, extended support to those requiring medical care in his efforts to protect the welfare of Filipinos. He urged those in need to the Malasakit Center located at Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Hospital in the town and the Malasakit Centers at Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital and the Overseas Filipino Workers Hospital and Diagnostic Center, both in San Fernando City.

These centers bring together critical agencies mandated to offer patients medical-related aid, such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health (DOH), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

According to DOH, the number of Malasakit Centers established 159 across the country and helped around ten million Filipinos nationwide.

Meanwhile, Go shared that Super Health Centers will also be nationwide, including 14 in the province. Through the collective efforts of fellow lawmakers, sufficient funds have been allocated for more than 700 Super Health Centers. DOH, led by Secretary Teodoro “Ted” Herbosa, is the lead implementing agency that identifies the strategic areas where they will be constructed.

Go, vice chairperson of the Senate Committee on Finance, has supported several projects in the province, including the funding of new equipment for hospitals in San Fernando City and the towns of Arayat, Bacolor, Floridablanca, Guagua, Lubao, Mabalacat, Porac, and San Luis. He also supported the construction of multipurpose buildings in Arayat, Floridablanca, Santa Monica, Magalang, and Masantol. He was also instrumental in constructing a slope protection project along the Sapangbato River in Brgy. Margot in Angeles City.

Go was honored by the provincial government of Pampanga for advancing the province’s well-being and interests through Resolution No. 7643-A. Similarly, former President Rodrigo Duterte was declared the province’s “adopted son” by Resolution No. 7643 in recognition of his significant contributions to Pampanga’s growth and prosperity during his presidency from 2016 to 2022.
