UPANG makatulong sa pamahalaan sa pagsusulong ng mapayapa at ligtas na bansa, hinikayat ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) kahapon ang lahat ng kanilang kasapi na magpa-rehistro para sa Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).
“The Philippine ID will not only provide us with a valid proof of identification, it will help government forces in the effort to hunt down terrorists, criminals and unscrupulous individuals who hide behind false identifies,” ayon kay AFP Vice Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Erickson Gloria.
Sa pakikipag-ugnayan sa Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), nagtatag ang AFP ng PhilSys registration center para military personnel, civilian human resource at kanilang mga dependents sa Lapu-Lapu Grandstand sa Camp Aguinaldo.
Nagtalaga naman ang PSA ng 15 PhilSys registration kits na may kakayahang na magrehistro ng 600 hanggang 750 individuals kada araw.
Ang registration ay inilaan sa mga tanggapan ng AFP, Department of National Defense (DND) at iba pang kawanihan similar kahapon hanggang Agosto 10 na inaasahang aabot sa 15,000 registrants.
Kabilang sa mga nagpatala na para sa kanilang Philippine ID sina DND Secretary Delfin Lorenzana at Office of Civil Defense Administrator Undersecretary Ricardo Jalad.
Sumaksi naman sa paglulunsad ng activity si Provincial Statistics Officer for PSA NCR Mr. Apolinar Oblea na siyang nanguna sa team of personnel na idineploy para sa Step 2 Registration o para sa pagkalap ng kanilang mga biometrics.
Ang national identification system ay magagamit para sa mabilis na government transactions at mga programa, pagsusulong ng transparency,citizens access sa financial services, social protection, health, education, at iba pang government services.
“The AFP supports the implementation of PhilSys as it shares mutual concerns and interest for public welfare. This endeavour to ease our people’s access to government services will significantly help us in our fight to address the root cause of armed conflict and radicalization,” ani Gloria. VERLIN RUIZ
