PUMALO sa USD 6.07 billion ang total agricultural trade ng bansa sa first quarter ng 2024, ayon sa Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
Mas mataas ito ng 2.6 percent kumpara sa naitala sa kaparehong panahon noong nakaraang taon.
Sa datos ng PSA, sa fourth quarter ng 2023 at first quarter ng 2023, ang total agricultural trade ay nagtala ng annual decreases na 0.8 percent at 8.4 percent, ayon sa pagkakasunod..
Sa first quarter ng 2024, ang total agricultural exports ay naitala sa USD 1.72 billion o 28.4 percent share sa total agricultural trade, habang ang agricultural imports ay USD 4.34 billion o 71.6 percent ng the total agricultural trade.
“In the first quarter of 2024, the total balance of trade in agricultural goods was recorded at USD -2.62 billion, which reflects a deficit with an annual drop of 6.5 percent. In the fourth quarter of 2023, the trade deficit went down by 6.6 percent, while the trade deficit in the first quarter of 2023 posted an annual increment of 9.8 percent,” ayon sa PSA.
Ang agricultural export revenue ay tumaas sa USD 1.72 billion sa first quarter ng 2024, tumaas ng 10.7 percent mula sa USD 1.56 billion agricultural export revenue na naitala sa first quarter ng 2023.
Sa first quarter ng 2024, ang value ng agricultural exports ay bumubuo sa 9.6 percent ng total exports ng bansa.
Ang top 10 commodity groups pagdating sa value of agricultural exports ay nag-ambag ng USD 1.66 billion o 96.5 percent sa total agricultural export revenue sa first quarter ng 2024. Ang combined agricultural export value ng naturang top 10 commodity groups ay nagtala ng annual increase na 10.3 percent sa nasabing quarter.
Sa commodity groups, ang edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit o melons, na nagkakahalaga ng USD 517.96 million, ang may pinakamalaking share na 30.1 percent sa total agricultural exports sa first quarter ng 2024.
Samantala. nagtala ang agricultural imports ng 0.3 percent annual decrease.
Ayon sa PSA, ang total agricultural imports ay nagkakahalaga ng USD 4.34 billion, na may share na 14.9 percent sa total imports ng bansa sa first quarter ng 2024. Nagtala ito ng 0.3 percent na pagbaba mula USD 4.36 billion na halaga ng agricultural imports sa first quarter ng 2023.
“The top 10 commodity groups in terms of value of agricultural imports amounted to USD 3.74 billion or 86.2 percent of the total agricultural import revenue in the first quarter of 2024. The combined agricultural import value of these top 10 commodity groups posted an annual increase of 0.9 percent during the first quarter of 2024 relative to its same quarter value in 2023,” sabi pa ng PSA.
“Among the major commodity groups, cereals accounted for the largest share worth USD 1.17 billion or 27.0 percent of the total value of agricultural imports in the first quarter of 2024.”
