PLANO ng NCAA na tulungan ang student-athletes, coaches, at maging ang mga opisyal na naapektuhan ng pagbabawas ng budget ng mga member school nito bunga ng COVID-19 crisis.
Kapwa binawasan ng Season 96 host Colegio de San Juan de Letran at Season 95 host Arellano University ang kanilang athletic operations, makaraang labis na maapektuhan ang kanilang school budgets ng health crisis.
Kinumpirma nina Peter Cayco ng Arellano at Fr. Vic Calvo ng Letran na ang lahat ng NCAA schools ay magpapatupad ng cost-cutting measures.
“We know that pagdating sa budget per school, we depend on enrollment,” ani Calvo, na pamumunuan ang Management Committee sa darating na season. “So few enrollment means few income, few budget to be distributed to different departments.”
“’Pag nagbabawasan ng budget, ‘yung unang victim, usually, ay ‘yung sports,” dagdag pa niya.
Ayon kay Calvo, ilang eskuwelahan ang nahaharap sa 85% decrease sa kanilang budget across the board, at siguradong maaapektuhan ang scholarships. Sa kabila nito ay ginagawa ng NCAA member-schools ang lahat para walang mabawasang student-athletes at coaches.
Plano mismo ng asosasyon na tulungan ang tinatayang 50% ng student-athletes, coaches, at officials na apektado ng budget cuts.
“We’re doing something,” pagtitiyak ni Calvo. “We got the names, the numbers of those who were affected, and we’ll be sure to help our players, our coaches, and our officials na kasama natin sa NCAA.”
