APRUBADO na sa Investment Coordination Committee-Cabinet Committee (ICC-CabCom) ang P5.45-billion modernization program ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) initiative.
“The ICC-Cabinet Committee approved the Philippine Customs Modernization Project of the Bureau of Customs,” ayon kay Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III.
Ginawa ni Dominguez ang anunsiyo makaraan ang pagpupulong ng Cabinet body para talakayin ang progreso ng ICC- at NEDA Board-approved projects at ang status ng pipeline projects.
“The total project cost amounts to P5.45 billion pesos, of which P4.6 billion or 84.5% of the total cost is proposed for official development assistance (ODA) financing through one of the multilateral agencies,” anang Finance chief.
Ang BOC, ang second largest tax collector ng bansa, ay nakakuha ng $150-million loan mula sa World Bank para pondohan ang modernization project nito na naglalayong maiangat ang systems at processing ng ahensiya.
Ang ICC ay kinabibilangan ng secretary ng Finance, bilang chairman; National Economic and Development Authority director-general bilang co-chairman; at ng Executive Secretary, secretaries ng Agriculture, Trade and Industry, Budget and Management at ng governor ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas bilang mga miyembro.
“The ICC-approved Customs modernization project is a ‘revenue collection infrastructure project’ that aims to improve the Bureau’s efficiency and transparency by streamlining and upgrading its systems and procedures through the use of information and communications technology,” dagdag ni Dominguez.
