AYO BANNED SA UAAP

PINATAWAN ng University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) ng indefinite ban si dating University of Santo Tomas head coach Aldin Ayo.

Ito ay makaraang ratipikahan ng UAAP Board of Trustees, isang body na binubuo ng mga presidente ng walong unibersidad, ang rekomendasyon na Board of Managing Directors (BMD).

Noong nakaraang linggo ay inirekomenda ng UAAP BMD ang parusa kay Ayo dahil sa kanyang papel sa kontrobersiyal na “Sorsogon bubble” kung saan nagsagawa ang UST men’s basketball team ng training camp sa kanyang hometown, na isang paglabag sa quarantine protocols.

Sa isang statement, sinabi ng UAAP na si Ayo ay ‘banned’ indefinitely sa paglahok sa lahat ng UAAP events at  UAAP sanctioned-activities.”

“The ban is based on the UST report that showed Ayo endangering the health and well-being of the student athletes under his charge when he conducted the training during a government-declared state of public emergency intended to arrest the COVID-19 outbreak,” pahayag ng liga.

Si Ayo ay nag-resign bilang UST head coach nitong September 5, na tumapos sa  dalawang taon niyang paggabay sa unibersidad.
