Kaya naman nagtanong din ako sa mga kaibigan ko sa media kung totoo nga ang kumakalat na balita. Pagkatapos ng mahigit isang oras, tila nagkakatotoo na ang unang balitang nasagap ko. Naglalabasan na ang tinatawag na ‘breaking news’ sa mga respetadong online news at sa social media.
Hindi ako malapit kay Noynoy Aquino. Subali’t nakasalamuha ko siya paminsan-minsan noon siya pa lamang ay isang kongresista ng ikalawang distrito ng Tarlac. Natatandaan ko na siya ay isang tahimik na tao. Wala masyadong kausap na kapwa kongresista. Lalabas lamang ‘yan sa Session Hall at pupunta sa labas ng main lobby ng Batasan Complex upang manigarilyo. Walang kasama. Walang kausap.
Subali’t napalapit siya sa ilang mga reporter ng House of Representatives. Nakakabiruan niya ang ilan.
Naging ninong din siya sa mga anak ng ibang reporters doon. Pormal na nakilala ko si Noynoy noong siya ay dumalo sa isang birthday party ng isang reporter. Walang ere sa katawan bagama’t alam natin lahat na siya ay mula sa isang ‘buena de familia’ at mga haciendero sa Tarlac.
Mabigat ang kanyang lahi. Aquino at Cojuangco. Kilalang martyr ang kanyang ama at naging Pangulo ng Filipinas ang kanyang ina. Ang bunso niyang kapatid ay isang napakasikat na aktres at celebrity-si Kris Aquino.
Subali’t kung kakausapin mo siya, para siyang isang ordinaryong tao na handang makipag-usap kahit kanino. Walang lumalabas na karakter bilang isang politiko. ‘Ika nga…walang ‘PR’ sa katawan pero hindi suplado.
Ang ilan sa kanyang mga kaibigan sa media ay tumulong sa kanya noong siya ay tumakbo sa Senado. Ibig sabihin lamang dito ay maganda ang pakikitungo ni Noynoy sa kanila. Ang ilan ay nagbitiw bilang reporter at nagtrabaho bilang staff ni Noynoy sa Senado.
Hindi ko akalain na siya ay tatakbo at magwawagi bila ika-15 Pangulo ng Filipinas noong 2010. Kilala si Noynoy sa kanyang kampanyang ‘Daang Matuwid’. Nguni’t kahit na anong pagpupursige niya laban sa korupsiyon, maraming mga isyu ang lumabas laban sa kanyang administrasyon na nagpababa ng kanyang trust rating survey bago matapos ang kanyang termino. Ang mga kontrobersiyal na mga isyu tulad ng Mamasapano massacre, mga kontrata sa DoTC, ang kanyang pagtatalaga kay Gen. Purisima at marami pang iba. Kaya naman nabasag ang kanyang pagpapatuloy ng “Daang Matuwid” sa susunod na eleksiyon kung saan ang manok ng kanilang Partido ay si Mar Roxas.
Nagbigay ng pahayag ang ating DFA Sec. Teddy Locsin Jr. na kilalang malapit sa pamilya ng mga Aquino.
