SINANDIGAN nina Raymond Almazan at KJ McDaniels ang Meralco upang maitakas ang 97-91 panalo kontra TNT sa PBA Commissioner’s Cup kahapon sa Araneta Coliseum.

Nagbuhos si Almazan ng 21 points, kabilang ang 13 sa pivotal fourth quarter, 11 rebounds at 4 blocks, habang humataw si McDaniels ng 26 at 15 upang tulungan ang Bolts na maitarak ang kanilang ikatlong sunod na panalo.

Umangat ang tropa ni coach Norman Black sa 4-5 kartada sa seventh at eighth place kasama ang Tropang Giga (also 4-5).

“This was a huge win for us ‘coz getting past TNT is something you don’t do every conference. So it gives us light at the end of the tunnel, that’s for sure,” sabi ni Meralco coach Norman Black.

“We play San Miguel, Magnolia and NLEX next so we still have a tough road ahead but winning this game really helps us a great deal. We just have to keep working in practice,” dagdag pa niya.

Nagdagdag si Aaron Black ng 17 points, kabilang ang isang clutch basket at dalawang free throws na nakatulong para selyuhan ang panalo sa fourth, habang nakalikom sina Bong Quinto ng 13 at Chris Banchero ng 10, bukod sa paglimita kay comebacking TNT gunner Mikey Williams.

“One important thing that’s happened since KJ’s arrival is the fact we’re playing much better defense,” sabi ni Black. “We’re back to being our defensive selves again and that’s what it’s gonna take for us to make the playoffs.”
