During his visit on Monday, July 8, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go was officially recognized as an adopted son of Tingloy, Batangas, an honor bestowed upon him by the local government in recognition of his significant contributions to the community.

Already an adopted son of CALABARZON region and having familial roots in Batangas as a Tesoro, Go, visibly moved by the recognition, addressed the community, emphasizing his commitment to continue supporting Tingloy.

During the regular session on July 1, presided over by Vice Mayor Dawn Erika Alvarez-Amboy, the Sangguniang Bayan of Tingloy unanimously passed Resolution No. 98, which was subsequently approved by Mayor Lauro Alvarez. This resolution honors Go for his “unwavering commitment to public service and his profound impact on the welfare and development of the municipality.”

The resolution passed by the Sangguniang Bayan of Tingloy commends Go for his “steadfast commitment to public service, significantly enhancing the welfare and development of the municipality.”

It further praises Go for his deep connection with the community, noting, “His dedication and service have earned him the highest respect, admiration, and gratitude from the people of Tingloy, solidifying his role as a true ally and advocate for their welfare.”

Detailing his contributions, the resolution highlights his impact: “Senator Go is recognized for his invaluable contributions, especially in the health and sports sectors, and his efforts to improve the livelihoods of numerous families.”

It also underscores his commitment to ongoing efforts to uplift the lives of the poor and vulnerable sectors, “Senator Go has repeatedly expressed his intention to continue his support for the community’s development, ensuring a sustained impact on the lives of its residents.”

Meanwhile, Go, chair of the Senate Committee on Health, maintained his support for improving healthcare access on the island, emphasizing the critical nature of healthcare services in the island community of Tingloy. He affirmed the continued operations of the 165 Malasakit Centers nationwide, including the one at Batangas Medical Center in Batangas City and Batangas Provincial Hospital in Lemery.

Go is the principal author and sponsor of Republic Act No. 11463, or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which institutionalized the Malasakit Centers program. The DOH reports that the Malasakit Center program has already provided aid to more or less ten million Filipinos.

“Sa mga pasyente, lapitan niyo lang ang Malasakit Center dahil para ‘to sa inyo. Kung may hospital bill kayo, nandiyan ang mga ahensya ng gobyerno na tutulong para mabayaran ito,” said Go.

To bring primary health services closer to communities and through the concerted efforts of Go, fellow lawmakers, the Department of Health and local government units, adequate funding was allocated for establishing more than 700 Super Health Centers nationwide. This includes 18 in Batangas, with one specifically inaugurated in Tingloy, which Go attended on the same day.

Other projects supported by Go in Batangas as vice chair of the Senate Committee on Finance include the rehabilitation of the construction of multipurpose buildings in Alitagtag, Batangas City, Ibaan, Lemery, Lipa City, Mabini, San Jose, San Juan, San Luis, San Nicolas, Santo Tomas, and Taal; the concretion of farm-to-market roads in Agoncillo, Laurel, Nasugbu, and Tuy; the acquisition of ambulance units in Ibaan and Lemery; and the acquisition of multipurpose vehicles in Lipa City and San Juan.
