Senator Christopher “Bong” Go’s Malasakit Team arrived in Catanduanes to distribute relief goods to families impacted by recent Typhoons Kristine and Leon.
Tasked directly by the senator, the Malasakit Team brought 500 grocery packs to help the affected communities recover from the devastating effects of these back-to-back storms on Tuesday, November 5.
Senator Go emphasized the vital role of these relief efforts in easing the burdens on the affected families. “In times like this, our priority is to help our fellow Filipinos get back on their feet as soon as possible,” he stated, underscoring that the distribution of grocery packs and other necessities can significantly alleviate immediate concerns and lay the groundwork for a smoother recovery.
The senator commended the local government of Catanduanes, led by Governor Joseph Cua, for their unified response and tireless work in addressing the needs of those impacted by the typhoons. “The local leaders of Catanduanes have shown remarkable dedication and unity in ensuring that the recovery process moves swiftly. Their commitment is invaluable in moments of crisis like this,” Go noted.
“Nais ko iparating kay Senator Bong Go, nagpapasalamat kami sa mga relief o mga tulong at sa malasakit. Kahit wala siya dito ay tuluy-tuloy pa rin ang kaniyang pagmamalasakit,” Governor Cua expressed, underscoring Go’s commitment to serve the Filipino people.
Go further reassured the community of his ongoing support, pledging to extend his assistance to the best of his capacity. “Magsabi lang po kayo kung kinakailangan niyo ng tulong at tutulong po ako sa abot ng aking makakaya dahil yan ang aking bisyo, ang magserbisyo.”
The senator also shared his push for Senate Bill No. 2451, known as the proposed Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which he co-sponsored and principally authored in the Senate. This proposed legislation, which passed on the third reading in the Senate, aims to build on Go’s earlier Mandatory Evacuation Center bill and underscores the need to establish dedicated evacuation centers in every locality.
Moreover, Go filed SBN 192, which seeks to institutionalize a Rental Housing Subsidy Program. This proposed measure aims to develop a housing and social protection program that offers disaster victims better and more affordable access to the formal housing market through government-provided rental subsidies if enacted.
