BONG GO EXTENDS IMMEDIATE AID TO FIRE VICTIMS IN TALISAY CITY, CEBU

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go continues his fire prevention advocacy as his team provided immediate assistance to fire victims in Barangays Linao, Cansojong, Tangke, and San Isidro in Talisay City, Cebu on Saturday, December 21.

In a video message, Senator Go emphasized the importance of resilience and community support, saying, “Mga kababayan, sa mga nasunugan, ‘wag kayong mawalan ng pag-asa. A lost life is a lost life forever.”

Senator Go’s Malasakit Team immediately assisted 59 affected families during a distribution activity held at Barangay Cansojong gym. Each affected family received financial assistance, snacks, grocery packs, vitamins, shirts, basketballs, and volleyballs from Senator Go. There were also select recipients of shoes for men and women, and a mobile phone.

Senator Go highlighted the recently enacted Republic Act No. 12076, also known as the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act. Signed on December 6, the law mandates the establishment of permanent, safe, and well-equipped evacuation centers in all cities and municipalities across the Philippines. As the principal author and co-sponsor of the law, Go emphasized its role in ensuring the safety and dignity of disaster-affected communities while expediting recovery efforts.

Go who is known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate service to Filipinos in need.

As the principal author and co-sponsor of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Modernization Act 2021, the senator also advocates for enhanced firefighting capabilities. The law aims to strengthen the BFP by modernizing its equipment, hiring more personnel, and offering specialized training programs to ensure prompt and efficient responses to fire emergencies.
