BONG GO PROVIDES ADDITIONAL SUPPORT TO RECOVERING FIRE VICTIMS IN LUPON, DAVAO ORIENTAL

Demonstrating his ongoing support for communities in need, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go provided additional assistance to families affected by a fire incident in Lupon Davao Oriental, on Friday, October 25.

Go highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance fire prevention in communities. He noted the Bureau of Fire Protection’s modernization under Republic Act No. 11589, which he principally authored and co-sponsored.

This Act mandates a comprehensive ten-year modernization plan to equip the bureau with advanced capabilities for fire response through increased firefighter recruitment, acquisition of modern fire equipment, and specialized training.

A lost life is a lost life forever.

Go added, who is known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate service to the poor.

During their visit to Market Avenue in Barangay Poblacion, Go’s Malasakit Team, together with Mayor Erlinda Lim, Vice Mayor Sonny Alonzo, and Councilor John Erwin Montojo, provided the 7 affected families with financial assistance, grocery packs, snacks, water containers, shirts, masks, vitamins, basketballs, and volleyballs. Meals were also given to the fire victims as part of Go’s long-standing feeding initiative.

As the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, Go encouraged the community to visit the nearest Malasakit Center at Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center in Mati City.

The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop that provides convenient access to the medical assistance programs of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Department of Health, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. Currently, there are 166 Malasakit Centers nationwide that have assisted more than 15 million Filipinos according to DOH reports.

Go who is known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassion towards Filipinos in need.
