KAHALAGAHAN  sa kalusugan ng lahat ngayong COVID-19 pandemic ang naging mensahe ni Senator and Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography Christopher “Bong” Go sa kaniyang naging video sa ginawang pamamahagi ng ayuda sa mga manggagawa sa Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur nitong Biyernes, Setyembre 24.

Hinikayat ni Go ang 3,000 beneficiaries na dumalaw sa Malasakit Centers sa Zamboanga Peninsula para sa kanilang health concerns.

Sa pagkakahalal kay Go bilang senador ay naging pangunahin na sa kaniyang panunungkulan ang makahanap ng solusyong pantulong sa mga low-income Filipinos para sa kanilang medical bills. Ito ang nagtulak sa kaniya na maipasa ang Republic Act No. 11463 o ang Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, na nilagdaan ni Presidente Rodrigo Duterte noong 2019 na inakdaan at inisponsoran sa Senado.

“Noong naging presidente si President Duterte, sabi ko, ano bang puwede nating gawin na isang konsepto na puwede nating bilisan lang natin na makapagbigay ng serbisyo? Sinubukan namin sa Cebu, sa Vicente Sotto. Nilagyan namin sa isang kwarto ‘yung PhilHealth, PCSO, DOH, DSWD, mga representatives nila, inilagay sa isang kuwarto. Ginawa natin ang Malasakit Center,” pahayag ni Go.

“Mga kababayan ko, mayroon na po tayong 141 na Malasakit Center sa buong Pilipinas. Tutulungan po kayo hanggang maging zero balance ang inyong billing. Lapitan niyo lang po ang Malasakit Center para po ‘yan sa Pilipino,” pagpapatuloy pa nito.

Ang Malasakit Centers ay nasa mga lugar ng Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center, Pagadian City at Margosatubig Regional Hospital sa Margosatubig, kapuwa sa Zambonga del Sur; Zamboanga City Medical Center, Mindanao Central Sanitarium, at Labuan General Hospital sa Zamboanga City; Jose Rizal Memorial Hospital sa Dapitan City; at Zamboanga del Norte Medical Center in Dipolog City.

Mahigpit na ipinatupad ang safety and health protocols ng grupo ni Go na nagsagawa ng pamamahagi sa Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Gym, Pagadian City na pinaggo-grupo sa maliliit na bilang ang mga workers na pinagbibigyan ng pagkain, masks, face shields, at vitamins. May mga benepisaryong tumanggap naman ng bicycles, new pairs of shoes, at computer tablets.

Ang Department of Social Welfare and Development ay namigay ng financial assistance at ang Department of Health ay nagsagawa naman ng libreng medical check-ups at namigay ng mga vitamins at hygiene kits.

Samantala, ang Department of Agriculture ay namahagi naman ng vegetable seeds. Ang Technical Education and Skills Development Authority ay nagsagawa naman ng evaluation para sa mga potential beneficiaries na pagkakalooban ng scholarship.

Dagdag pa rito ang Department of Labor and Employment at ng Department of Trade and Industry na nagsagawa ng on-site assessments para sa pagdetermina sa mga qualified individuals para mapabilang sa livelihood programs.

Hinikayat din ni Go ang mga tao na magpabakuna kung sila ay eligible ayon sa immunization guidelines.

“Mabilis na ang ating vaccination rollout. Pakiusap ko lang sa inyo, kapag nasa priority list, magpabakuna na kayo. Magtiwala kayo sa bakuna, huwag kayong matakot sa bakuna,” saad ni Go.

Si Go na siyang Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance ay nagbigay suporta sa iba’t ibang infrastructure initiatives sa naturang probinsiya, kabilang dito ang construction ng multi-purpose gym and building at ang pagbili ng ambulance sa Pagadian City.

Sinuportahan din nito ang construction ng multi-purpose building, improvement ng Sunset Boulevard, at ang concreting ng barangay roads sa Dapitan City, at iba pa.

Pinasalamatan ni Go sina Representative Divina Grace Yu, Governor Victor Yu, Vice Governor Roseller Ariosa, Mayor Samuel Co, at iba pang local authorities sa kanilang walang kapagurang pagseserbisyo sa kanilang constituents sa panahon ng public health emergency.

“Kami po ni Pangulong Duterte ay patuloy na magseserbisyo sa inyong lahat dahil para sa amin po, ang serbisyo po sa tao, serbisyo po ‘yan sa Diyos,” pagtatapos nito.

Inorganisa rin ni Go ang kahalintulad na assistance sa may 1,500 displaced employees ng Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Sur, nitong September 17.
