BONG GO VISITS FIRE VICTIMS IN PARAÑAQUE CITY TO HELP IN THEIR TIME OF NEED AS HE SEEKS TO ENHANCE EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS IN COMMUNITIES

SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go and his Malasakit Team visited Parañaque City on Thursday, February 22, to personally distribute essential aid to affected residents of recent fire incidents in Barangays Marcelo Green and BF Homes.

In his message to the victims, the senator stressed his ongoing support for the city’s infrastructure and healthcare development.

“Sa mga biktima ng sunog, huwag ho kayong mag-alala. Sabi ko nga sa inyo noon, ang gamit ay nabibili. Ang pera ay kikitain, subalit ‘yung perang kikitain ay hindi po nabibili ang buhay. A lost life is a lost life forever. Kaya mag-ingat po tayo,” he underscored.

A notable aspect of Go’s support involves the strategic establishment of Super Health Centers throughout the country. With two Super Health Centers set to rise in Parañaque City, these facilities represent a significant leap toward accessible, comprehensive healthcare services for residents.

The Department of Health (DOH), led by Secretary Teodoro Herbosa and with the support of LGUs and lawmakers, has identified strategic locations nationwide for these Super Health centers.

The construction of these centers, alongside several multipurpose buildings and the improvement of the Parañaque River Promenade Bridge, is part of a larger vision to enhance local infrastructure. These initiatives, supported by Go as vice chairperson of the Senate Committee on Finance, aim to provide residents with medical services and versatile community spaces that can serve various needs, including emergency response.

Meanwhile, Go, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography urged those needing medical assistance to use the 31 Malasakit Centers in Metro Manila, including the center at Ospital ng Parañaque.

The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop where all relevant agencies are brought together under one roof to ensure that medical assistance programs are within the patients’ reach.

The Malasakit Centers program has assisted around ten million Filipinos with 159 operational centers nationwide. Go is the principal author and sponsor of Republic Act No. 11463, or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019.

Go and his team conducted relief activities at the Manggahan Kawayanan Marcelo Green Gym for 86 affected families from seven barangays. They distributed snacks, fruits, and shirts. Select beneficiaries also received balls for basketball and volleyball, shoes, a bike and a mobile phone.

The National Housing Authority personnel provided emergency housing assistance to the victims, a program the senator continues to support.

In his speech, Go also acknowledged Kagawad Eva Abejero and Menandro Molina, SK Chairwoman Kristel Mary Empanado, and the NHA NCR South Sector Office Cromwell Teves officer-in-charge for their community service.

In addition to infrastructure and healthcare services, Go co-sponsored and is one of the authors of Senate Bill No. 2451, or the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act. Initially based on the Mandatory Evacuation Center bill previously filed by Go, this legislation seeks to create permanent and fully-equipped evacuation centers nationwide.

“Kaya patuloy akong tutulong sa abot ng aking makakaya dahil ang tangi kong bisyo ay magserbisyo sa inyong lahat,” Go said who is known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate service to sectors in need.

On the same day, Go also provided similar assistance to fire victims in Las Piñas City. Before this, he also attended the Panpacific University – Urdaneta and Tayug Campuses Leaders Summit in Urdaneta City in Pangasinan and the groundbreaking for a Super Health Center in Sison town in the province.
