BONG GO’S MALASAKIT TEAM BRINGS HOPE AND SUPPORT TO THOUSANDS OF POOR RESIDENTS IN NUEVA ECIJA

SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go, affectionately known as “Mr. Malasakit,” has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to uplifting the lives of the poor. On June 18 and 19, his Malasakit Team extended assistance to the impoverished communities of Gabaldon and Llanera, Nueva Ecija, in partnership with Congressman Jose Gay “GP” Padiernos.

The 2,000 indigents who were gathered at Gabaldon Municipal Gymnasium and Llanera Evacuation Center received snacks, vitamins, and shirts from Senator Go. There were also select recipients of basketballs, volleyballs, shoes, and mobile phones from his Malasakit Team.

Meanwhile, through the initiative of GP Partylist and the collective efforts of the local and national government, the beneficiaries received financial support.

As an adopted son of Nueva Ecija, Go’s dedication to the province is evident in his continuous efforts to support its most vulnerable sectors.

During his Malasakit Team’s visit, in a video message, the senator reiterated his commitment to do what he can to uplift the lives of indigent Filipinos. “I am very thankful to be a senator,” he said, “as it allows me to continue providing what is necessary to improve the lives of the poor.”

“Kaya hindi ninyo kailangan magpasalamat sa akin, ako po ang dapat magpasalamat sa inyo dahil binigyan niyo ko ng pagkakataon na maglingkod sa inyo. Bisyo ko ang magserbisyo kaya magseserbisyo ako sa inyo sa abot ng aking makakaya,” he added.

Go, who chairs the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, has advocated for Malasakit Centers nationwide which act as one-stop shops for indigent patients to receive medical assistance from the government to cover their hospital bills, a crucial support system for those struggling to afford healthcare.

The senator encouraged the residents to seek assistance from the Malasakit Centers located at Eduardo L. Joson Memorial Hospital and Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center (PJGMRMC), both in Cabanatuan City and Talavera General Hospital in Talavera.

Established in 2018, the Malasakit Centers brings together concerned agencies to provide indigent patients access to medical assistance programs. To date, the program has established 165 Malasakit Centers nationwide, which have helped more or less ten million Filipinos.

Go is the principal sponsor and author of the Republic Act No. 11463 or the Malasakit Centers Act.
