BOP SURPLUS UMAKYAT SA 6-MONTH HIGH

NAGTALA ang ­Philippine balance of payments (BOP) position ng surplus na $541 million noong ­Nobyembre, ang pinakamataas sa loob ng anim na buwan, ayon sa Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

Ang BOP position noong nakaraang buwan ay mas mataas sa $163-million surplus noong Oktubre, subalit mas mababa sa $847-million surplus noong Nobyembre 2018.

Ito ang pinakamataas sa loob ng anim na buwan magmula nang maitala ng BOP ang surplus na $928 million noong Mayo.

“The BOP consists of Philippine transactions with the rest of the world during a specific period. A surplus means more funds entered the country, while a deficit means more funds exited,” paliwanag ng BSP.

“Inflows in November 2019 reflected the BSP’s foreign exchange operations, increase in the National Government’s (NG) net foreign currency depo­sits and BSP’s income from its investments abroad,” sabi pa ng central bank.  PILIPINO Mirror Reportorial Team
