SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go extended his congratulations and commendations to the 372 Dipolog Medical Center (DMC) College Foundation Inc. graduates during their 48th Commencement Exercise on Friday, June 7 at the open field of DMC College Foundation, Inc. campus in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.
Senator Go, who was represented by Congressman Anthony “Tony” Golez, acknowledged the graduates’ unwavering dedication and hard work, emphasizing that their perseverance has led them to this significant milestone. “Your hard work has paid off, and today is a testament to your resilience and determination,” he stated.
“You have faced numerous challenges and persevered, demonstrating resilience and commitment. Your achievements reflect not just your academic capabilities but also your determination and strength of character,” he continued.
The senator recognized the students’ challenges throughout their academic journey, expressing his admiration for their ability to overcome obstacles. “I am sure there were many hardships along the way, but you have proven your strength by overcoming them all,” he said.
The senator also lauded the invaluable support of the parents and guardians, highlighting their crucial role in the students’ success. “To the parents and guardians, your emotional support and encouragement have been instrumental in helping these students achieve their goals. Thank you for being their pillars of strength,” Go said.
Furthermore, Senator Go extended his gratitude to the DMC College Foundation Inc. faculty members, commending them for their dedication and guidance.
“We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the faculty members who have been your mentors and guides. Your dedication to imparting knowledge and nurturing the minds of these young individuals is commendable. Your role in shaping their futures cannot be overstated,” congratulated Go.
Special commendation was given to the school’s leadership, particularly the Chairman of the Board and DMC President, Atty. Albert Tan Concha Jr. Under his guidance, the institution has continued to uphold excellence in education and student support.
In his message, Senator Go urged the graduates to express gratitude to their parents, guardians, and faculty members. “Whatever you have achieved today is also their achievement. Do not forget to thank them for their unwavering support and guidance,” he emphasized.
Concluding his address, Senator Go encouraged the graduates to continue their pursuit of knowledge. “Even though you have graduated, learning should not stop. Continue to seek knowledge and grow, for lifelong learning is the key to success,” he inspired.
Go also reaffirmed his commitment to advancing initiatives that ensure quality education for all Filipinos. He proudly highlighted Republic Act No. 10931, the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, which was signed into law by former President Rodrigo Duterte. This legislation has played a crucial role in making higher education more accessible nationwide.
Building on the successes of RA 10931, Go co-authored and co-sponsored Senate Bill No. 1360, which aims to expand the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) coverage.
He also expressed pride in being a co-author and a co-sponsor of Republic Act No. 11984, known as the No Permit, No Exam Prohibition Act, which has been pivotal in creating a compassionate, inclusive, and robust education system.
Just recently, Republic Act No. 11997, or the “Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act,” which Go co-authored in the Senate, was signed into law. This new law increases the allowance for teaching supplies.
Senator Go also advocated to establish the National Academy of Sports, which provides specialized sports education, by authoring and co-sponsoring RA 11470.
“As the Senate Committee on Sports chair, I believe it is necessary to help the youth develop self-discipline, camaraderie, and sportsmanship. As our battle cry goes, get into sports, stay away from drugs to keep healthy and fit!,” Go earlier said.
Furthermore, Go filed Senate Bill No. 1864 or the Student Loan Payment Moratorium During Disasters and Emergencies bill. He also proposed Senate Bill No. 1786 which would require public higher education institutions (HEIs) to have mental health offices in their campuses. Go also co-authored and co-sponsored Senate Bill No. 2200 or the proposed Basic Education Mental Health and Well-Being Promotion Act.
“As a parent myself, I am inspired by the youth’s big dreams. My only hope is that they use these opportunities to be of service to the nation and our people. That’s why my message to the youth is to never give up and always do what is right. GO lang nang GO!,” he said.
“Patuloy kaming magseserbisyo sa inyo dahil bisyo ko ang magserbisyo at ako ay naniniwala na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo ‘yan sa Panginoon, serbisyo ‘yan kay Allah,” underscored Go who is known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate service to Filipinos in need.
