GUMASTOS ng P576 milyon ang Philippine National Police ( PNP) para palakasin ang kanilang kakayahan sa pagseserbisyo sa bayan at mapanatili ang peace and order situation sa bansa.
Inihayag kahapon ng PNP ang pagkakaroon nila ng karagdagang sea and land mobile assets at mga communication equipment para suportahan ang kanilang police operations.
Sa ginanap na pagbabasbas ng mga bagong kagamitan ng pambansang pulisya sa pangunguna ni PNP Chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos sa isang simpleng seremonya sa PNP National Headquarters ay inihayag na umaabot sa P P576,667,540.00 ang mga bagong equipment.
“The PNP is grateful to President Rodrigo R Duterte and the national government for the gesture of genuine responsiveness to the operational needs of the PNP to perform our law enforcement and public safety mission. We can only reciprocate our gratitude through better police service to the people,” ani Carlos.
Kabilang sa mga nadagdag sa PNP fleet of sea crafts ang sampung High-speed Tactical Watercraft powered by twin 250 horsepower engines na magpapalakas sa existing fleet ng police gunboats na hawak ng PNP Maritime Group at Special Action Force para sa seaborne police operations at preventive patrol.
Kabilang latest procurement package ng PNP ang 34 6-wheel utility trucks, 123 4×2 patrol vehicles, 170 lowband VHF tactical radio sets, at 1,628 handheld Digital Mobile Radio transceivers.
Samantala tinanggap naman ng Department of National Defense (DND) ang RMB130 million o katumbas na P1 billion halaga ng mga kagamitan mula naman sa China para sa Armed Forces of the Philippine (AFP).
Pinangunahan ni Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana at Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian ang ceremonial handover ng mga kagamitan na donasyon mula sa Ministry of National Defense of the
People’s Republic of China sa DND kahapon sa Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
Nakapaloob sa nasabing donasyon ang ibat ibang military equipment gaya ng rescue and relief equipment, drone systems, detectors, water purification vehicles, ambulances, firetrucks, x-ray machines, EOD robots, bomb disposal suits and transport vehicles; at engineering equipment gaya ng backhoes, dumptrucks, forklifts at mga earthmovers.
“This military grant from China speaks volumes on how our two nations can be civil, diplomatic and friends despite some issues on territorial claims,”ani Lorenzana.
Nabatid na sinusuportahan ng China ang ginagawang capacity building activities ng Presidential Security Group (PSG), Marawi rehabilitation efforts, at iba pang humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations.
