CALABARZON’S ADOPTED SON BONG GO EXTENDS SUPPORT TO MORE THAN A THOUSAND INDIGENTS IN LUCBAN, QUEZON

SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go reinforced his advocacy for the prudent use of government resources, urging that every peso should help uplift the lives of the impoverished and contribute to the betterment of the community. This commitment was once again demonstrated when his Malasakit Team arrived in Lucban, Quezon, on Thursday, September 12, to aid struggling residents in the town.

Go, in his message, urged the recipients to use the aid wisely and assured them of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve their well-being.

The senator also expressed his gratitude to the local government of Lucban for its steadfast support in helping its constituents, particularly during difficult times. He reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for more programs that directly benefit the poor and vulnerable sectors of society.

During his Malasakit Team’s visit together with Philip Salvador as representative, held at the Paaralang Elementarya ng Lucban 1, a total of 1,500 residents received financial support from the local government led by Mayor Agustin Tenten Villaverde in partnership with Go. Some also received shirts, a watch, a phone, and a pair of shoes from Go while a select beneficiary also received a bicycle.

He also reminded the attendees of the available medical assistance programs through Malasakit Centers, which are designed to help poor Filipinos access healthcare by easing the burden of hospital bills. He noted that these centers, including those at Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City and Maria L. Eleazar General Hospital in Tagkawayan, continue to serve as lifelines for indigent patients.

The Malasakit Centers program, a brainchild of Go, was initiated in 2018 and aims to streamline the process of availing medical assistance programs by bringing together concerned government agencies under one roof. To date, the 166 Malasakit Centers have helped nearly 12 million Filipinos nationwide. It was institutionalized under Republic Act No. 11463, which Go principally sponsored and authored.
