MATATANGGAP na ng may 20,000 displaced at stranded overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) na nag-apply para sa Abot Kamay ang Pagtulong (AKAP) program ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) ang kanilang cash aid sa susunod na linggo, ayon saOverseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
Sa Laging Handa briefing, sinabi ni Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac na ipalalabas nila sa susunod na linggo ang pondo para sa recipients ng 3rd tranche mula sa pamahalaan.
Kasabay nito, sinabi niya na mahigit sa 320,000 Filipino sa ibang bansa at yaong mga nakauwi na ang nabiyayaan ng one-time cash assistance.
“So far, there are 325,000 that have been given the cash aid and we are currently wrapping up with about maybe 20,000 more this coming week or the 3rd tranche we got from the national government,” ani Cacdac.
Aniya, patuloy silang mag-aapruba ng applications hanggang sa katapusan ng taon dahil binigyan sila ng karagdagang alokasyon sa ilalim ng Bayanihan 2, o ang Bayanihan to Recover as One.
“There’s a 4th tranche Bayanihan 2 that we will be getting and we will roll it out which means from now until the end of December we will have a payout and we will approve DOLE-AKAP applications,” dagdag pa ni Cacdac.
Sa ilalim ng programa, ang OFW-beneficiary ay tatanggap ng one-time cash aid na nagkakahalaga ng P10,000 o $200 cash assistance.
Saklaw ng programa ang OFWs na na-repatriate at na-stranded sa bansa dahil sa COVID-19 pandemic.
Iniulat din ng OWWA chief na mahigit sa 300,000 returning OFWs ang naiuwi na sa kanilang home provinces.
“At the beginning of today (Friday), 302,000 OFWs since May are now with their families in their home provinces or regions,” aniya.
Idinagdag pa ni Cacdac na inaasahan nila ang may 70,000 o higit pang uuwi bago matapos ang taon.
“We are expecting maybe around 70,000-80,000 more till the end of the year of course the figure is variable since its Christmas season, where many of our fellowmen go back to the country,” aniya. PNA
