DALAWANG bagong local sports heroes ang idinagdag ng Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas sa kanilang lumalaking stable ng national athletes.
Isang linggo makaraang isama ang Gilas Pilipinas Women’s 3×3 sa kanilang koponan, sina Southeast Asian Games gold medalists Roger Casogay ng surfing at Jaime De Lange ng skateboarding ay itinalagang bagong ambassadors ng brand.
“We all know basketball is a religion here in our country but there are also other athletes that need our support,” wika ni Chooks-to-Go president Ronald Mascariñas.
“Just like Nikko [Huelgas], we know that Roger and Jaime will be good ambassadors of sportsmanship and goodwill — the core values of our organization.”
Si De Lange, produkto ng De La Salle University, ay nagwagi ng gold sa downhill event ng 30th Southeast Asian Games noong nakaraang buwan.
Samantala, si Casogay ay bayani ng SEAG.
Sa kalagitnaan ng kumpetisyon ay sinagip ng tubong La Union si Indonesian foe Arip Nurhidiyat sa men’s longboard event ng meet noong December 6. Pagkalipas ng dalawang araw ay nakopo ni Casogay ang gold.
“’Yung mga gold that athletes win, madaling makalimutan ‘yan. Pero what you did to do Indonesian surfer is a prouder moment for the country,” wika ni Mascariñas. “Sa sports, sinasabi natin na it’s not just about winning. It’s how you play the game. That’s the message we want to bring.
“Bayani ka. Ikaw ang tunay na Manok ng Bayan.”
