HINIHIMOK ni Ways and Means Chairman Joey Salceda ang mga local government unit (LGU) at mga rehiyon na paghandaan ang kinakailangang pasilidad para sa mass vaccination, vaccine storage at transport ng mga bakuna.

Ito ay kasunod na rin ng inaasahang pagdating ng nasa mahigit 33 million na CO­VID-19 vaccines sa katapusan ng Hulyo.

Ayon kay Salceda, sa oras na dumating na ang mga bakuna, kailangang maibahagi ito sa mga lugar na may tamang cold storage facilities na kayang mag­imbak ng COVID-19 vaccines sa loob ng 6-month expiry deadline.

“The supply chain more or less goes like this. Once vaccines arrive, we need to distribute them across proper cold storage facilities capable of accommodating them within the 6-month expiry deadline when frozen. You need to have storage like this for every major population center,” pahayag ni Salceda.

Samantala, sa regional level naman, dapat na simulan na ng Department of Health (DOH) kung saang lalawigan itatalaga ang mga freezers at paano ito maipapamahagi bago pa man malusaw.

Inirekomenda rin ni Salceda sa mga LGU na bumuo ng “strategic vaccination clusters” kung wala silang sariling pasilidad.

Tulad aniya sa kanilang distrito sa Albay, mayroong clustering ng mga munisipalidad kung saan ang mga maliliit na municipalities ay maaring maimbak ng COVID-19 vaccines sa mga malala­king LGUs. CONDE BATAC
