COMELEC TARGET ANG 70% VOTER TURNOUT

UMAASA ang pamunuan ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) na tulad noong Enero 21 plebiscite para sa ratipikasyon ng Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), ay magiging maayos din ang pagdaraos ng ikalawang araw ng plebisito na para naman sa inklusyon ng mga karagda-gang lugar sa bagong Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BAR), na isasagawa ngayong araw, Pebrero 6.

“Let us face it. The January 21 polls was a success, and we hope to duplicate that success here (February 6 plebiscite),” ayon kay Comelec Spokes-person James Jimenez, sa isang pulong balitaan.

“The biggest concern coming into the elections on February 6 is possible spillover of incidents in other parts of Mindanao, but the PNP (Philippine National Police) has said that there is no need to increase the number of election hotspots and they are not expecting any great disruptions during the February 6 plebiscite,” aniya pa.

Ayon kay Jimenez, target nila  na magkaroon ng 70% voter turnout sa ikalawang round ng plebisito.

“Ang voter turnout… that remains to be seen if we can match the earlier turnout [January 21 plebiscite] because the stakes are different. The first one was for ratification. Now, it is inclusion. But we see that it will still generate some sort of interest since these places are politically active areas. We ex-pect a voter turnout of not less than 70 percent,” aniya pa.

Nabatid na ang unang araw ng plebisito ay para sa ratipikasyon ng Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), na mag-a-abolish ng Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), at papalitan ng Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BAR).

Sa nasabing botohan ay nagwagi ang ‘yes vote’ matapos na makakuha ng mahigit 1.5 milyong boto, laban sa ‘no votes’ na mayroong 198,000 boto lamang.

Ang ikalawang araw naman ng plebisito ay para sa pagdaragdag ng mga lugar sa BAR, at idaraos ito sa anim na muni-sipalidad ng Lanao del Norte, kabilang ang Baloi, Munai, Nunungan, Pantar, Tagaloan at Tangkal, gayundin ang 39 na barangay ng North Cotabato, na matatagpuan sa munisipalidad ng Aleosan, Carmen, Cabacan, Midsayap, Pigkawayan, at Pikit.  ANA ROSARIO HERNANDEZ
