PINAG-AARALAN na ng pamahalaan ang paggamit ng COVID-19 vaccine ng Japan na mRNA na gawa ng Moderna.
Ito ang iniulat ni Food and Drug Administration director general Eric Domingo kasunod ng pag-apruba ng Japan health authorities sa nasabing bakuna.
Sa Talk to the People ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte noong Lunes ng gabi ay sinabi ni Domingo, na sa ngayon ay mayroong globally-approved na 17 vaccines kontra COVID-19.
“Last week, there is a new vaccine from Japan that was approved in Japan, mRNA vaccine similar to Pfizer and Moderna and it’s being made by the company Takeda,” ayon kay Domingo.
Naniniwala si Domingo na ito ay upang madagdagan ang supply ng bakuna sa bansa para mabilis na makamit ang herd community.
“We hope — this is another vaccine that we may use also in the future,” wika ni Domingo.
Noong isang buwan ay inanunsiyo ng Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited na inaprubahan ng Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare ang special approval para sa emergency use ng mRNA COVID-19 vaccine ng Moderna, TAK-919, na ngayon ay COVID-19 Vaccine Moderna Intramuscular Injection.
Ayon sa nabanggit na pharmaceutical company, ang pag- aproba ay base sa positive clinical data ng Takeda’s Phase 1/2 immunogenicity at safety clinical trial ng Moderna COVID-19 vaccine sa Japan na nagpakita ng immune response na consistent sa resulta ng Moderna pivotal Phase 3 COVE trial na isinagawa naman sa Estados Unidos.
Sa kasalukuyan, ang mga vaccine brands sa bansa na binigyan ng FDA ng emergency use authority ay ang Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Sinovac, Gamaleya, Janssen, Bharat Biotech, at Moderna. EVELYN QUIROZ
