NAKAPAGTALA ng panibagong paghina ang pag-utang sa mga bangko noong Hulyo sa gitna ng nagpapatuloy na COVID-19 pandemic, ayon sa Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).
Sa preliminary data na inilabas ng central bank ay lumitaw na ang outstanding loans ng universal at commercial banks net o reverse repurchase placements ay bumaba ng 0.7% year-on-year makaraang humina ng 2.0% noong Hulyo.
“Outstanding loans to residents moderated by 0.1% versus the 1.4% decline in June, while outstanding loans to non-residents plunged by 17.4% after falling 19.7% in June.”
“[A] new wave of COVID-19 infections owing to more virulent virus strains continue to dampen economic prospects and temper market sentiment,” ayon pa sa BSP.
Bumaba rin ang consumer loans sa mga residente ng 8.2%, kung saan ang mga pautang sa motor vehicle ay patuloy sa paghina. Noong Hunyo ay nakapagtala ito ng 8.7% na pagbaba.
Samantala, bumaba ang outstanding loans sa key sectors, kung saan humina ang wholesale and retail trade at repaid o motor vehicles and motorcycles ng4.5% at manufacturing ng 2.6%.
“Looking ahead, the BSP will continue to prioritize monetary policy support in order to ensure the continued momentum of economic recovery,” anang central bank.
“At the same time, the national government’s targeted fiscal initiatives and health interventions will be crucial in boosting domestic demand and strengthening the recovery.”
