NAGLAAN ang Kongreso ng P1.9 billion sa Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) sa panukalang 2021 budget bukod pa sa pondo para sa free WiFi sa mga pampublikong lugar at state schools.
Ayon kay Senador Sonny Angara, chairman ng Senate Committee on Finance, layon nito na mapagbuti ang internet services maging sa malalayong lugar.
Ang numero ay doble ng initial proposal ng gobyerno na P902.194 million sa National Expenditure Program.
“We need to really ramp up our internet infrastructure. It’s one of the needs of our country. When you talk about Build, Build, Build, you don’t just look at roads, you don’t just look at buildings, but you also look at the actual internet infrastructure because that will provide greater investments,” ayon kay Angara.
“With bigger investments coming into the country, this will mean more higher-paying jobs and more economic activity,” dagdag pa niya.
Aniya, may P2.667 billion ang inilaan para sa free WiFi sa mga pampublikong lugar.
“Expanding the access and reliability of our internet connections will go a long way in helping our children transition easier, especially for those who cannot afford to pay for their own subscriptions.”
