INILUNSAD ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) nitong Lunes ang Digital National ID, na dapat tanggapin bilang valid proof of identification na maaaring maging accessible sa pamamagitan ng mobile devices na may internet connection.
Sa ilallm ng programa, ang sinumang nakarehistro sa national ID system ay maaaring ma-access at ma-view ang kanilang Digital National ID sa pamamagitan ng official website or mobile application, na inaatasan ang mga user na ilagay ang kanilang demographic information at facial verification.
Sa kasalukuyan ay may mahigit 87 million Filipinos na nakarehistro sa national ID, na ang pagkakakilanlan ay maaari ring beripikahin ng government agencies at private establishments sa pamamagitan ng online platform.
“With these developments, every registered Filipino now has improved access to a reliable and secure proof of identity that can be easily authenticated on their devices,” wika ni PSA undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa sa isang statement.
“This will facilitate the faster distribution and wider utilization of the National ID, with relying parties finding it easier to onboard to the National ID system,” dagdag pa niya.
Nilagdaan ni dating Presidente Rodrigo Duterte noong 2018 bilang batas ang Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Act, na naglalayong i-harmonize, pagsamahin, at i-interconnect ang redundant government IDs sa pamamagitan ng pagbuo ng isang national identification system.
Ang Digital National ID ay inilunsad sa pakikipagtulungan sa Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), na inatasang buuin at isulong ang national ICT development agenda.
“This modern identification system will streamline transactions, improve service delivery, and ultimately make doing business easier for everyone,” sabi ni DICT Secretary Ivan Uy.
