IBINASURA ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) election committee ang lahat ng limang disqualification protests na inihain ng grupo ni presidential candidate Clint Aranas laban kay incumbent POC head at Rep. Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino.
Ang 8-pahinang desisyon ay nilagdaan noong Sabado nina election committee chairman Atty. Teodoro Kalaw IV at members University of the Philippines president Atty. Danilo Concepcion at dating International Olympic Committee representative to the Philippines Francisco Elizalde.
Dinismis ng komite ang protesta dahil sa kawalan ng merito.
“All official protests filed against [Tom] Carrasco, [Abraham] Tolentino, [Cynthia] Carrion-Norton, [Dr. Raul] Canlas and [Dave] Carter are denied in their entirety for the lack of merit,” nakasaad sa desisyon. “Accordingly, the certified list of candidates for the 2020 POC elections last October is now deemed final.”
Hiniling ng kampo ni Aranas na idiskuwalipika sina Tolentino, Carrion (gymnastics, candidate for treasurer) at Tom Carrasco (triathlon, chairman) dahil sa pagtanggap ng salaries bilang mga opisyal ng Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) sa hosting ng 30th Southeast Asian Games noong nakaraang December.
Iginiit ng grupo ni Aranas na ang pagtanggap ng bayad ay malinaw na paglabag sa International Olympic Committee rules.
Pinuri ni Tolentino, na naghahangad ng full term bilang POC president, ang desisyon ng election committee.
“Bereft with merit, these allegations are purely to destroy character and reputation putting anomalous accusation in the eyes and ears of the innocent stakeholders,” wika ni Tolentino. “Little did they know that they are creating chaos not only inside the POC but also to naked eye of the public,”
“There is nothing in the [POC] bylaws that mention anything about their grounds for disqualification. All false, nothing true,” aniya.
“The truth shall set you free,” dagdag pa niya.
Sinabi naman ni Aranas na iginagalang niya ang desisyon ng election committee.
Nakatakda ang POC elections sa Biyernes sa East Ocean Palace Restaurant sa Paranaque City. Isa itong face-to-face secret balloting exercise. CLYDE MARIANO
