The Department of Health (DOH), through Secretary Teodoro Herbosa, welcomed South Korean Ambassador Lee Sang-hwa to discuss different areas of cooperation on health such as the country’s Tuberculosis screening system, establishment of BUCAS Centers and digital data integration and upgrading of laboratory and treatment equipment on August 27, 2024.
The two health leaders underscored engagements with the establishment of a portable tuberculosis screening system through innovative products to South Korea’s Public Procurement Service, as well as encouraging Korean pharmaceutical manufacturers to invest in the Philippines.
Furthermore, the DOH forwarded its aims to in educational courses on international healthcare as well as a proposal of assistance to BUCAS Centers to the South Korean officials joined by Second Secretary Ms. Lee Jong-mi, and Assistant Country Director, Mr. Lee Hyungwon of the Korean International Cooperative Agency.
“We are heartened with the support coming from the South Korean government to better our existing health systems through innovations and capacity development initiatives. These collaborations form a pivotal part in effecting the aims of Universal Healthcare dahil sa sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Buhay Mahalaga,” expressed Secretary Herbosa.
