LUMIIT ang dollar reserves ng bansa noong Abril sa likod ng foreign exchange operations ng central bank at ng pagbabayad ng utang panlabas ng pamahalaan, ayon sa Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

Ang April 2018 dollar reserve level ay mas mababa sa  $80.5 billion na naitala noong Marso.

“At this level, the dollar reserves are equivalent to 7.8 months’ worth of imports of goods and payments of services and primary income,” wika ni BSP Governor Nestor Espenilla, Jr.  “It is also equivalent to 5.5 times the country’s short-term external debt based on original maturity and 4.1 times based on residual maturity.”

Bukod sa foreign exchange operations ng BSP at sa pagbabayad ng foreign debt ng gob­yerno, ang month-on-month decline sa reserve level ay ­inudyukan din ng revaluation adjustments sa gold holdings ng BSP bunga ng pagbaba ng ­presyo ng ginto sa pandaigdigang merkado.

Samantala, bumaba rin ang net international reserves, ang diperensiya sa pagitan ng gross reserves at total short-term liabilities ng BSP, ng $500 million sa $80 billion hanggang noong katapusan ng Abril 2018 mula sa end-March 2018 level na  $80.5 billion.
