SHANGHAI, CHINA — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through the Center for International Trade Expositions & Missions (CITEM) and the Philippine Trade and Investment Centers (PTICs) in China, is inviting local companies to join the Philippine delegation of food and agricultural exhibitors to the 3rd China International Import Expo (CIIE) scheduled on November 5-10, 2020 in Shanghai, China.
The delegation, with an overall theme of “Healthy and Natural,” has 40 slots with no participation fees for this year. The 108 square-meter Philippine pavilion will showcase food products and agricultural/fresh produce in the Food & Agricultural Products Hall through an interactive platform. A designated area will display the exhibitors’ products, while an interactive area will have conference pods where buyers can meet online with the exhibitors in the Philippines. A reception area with a queueing system for interested buyers will allow interface with Philippine representatives to ensure social distancing protocols will be followed.
In light of the pandemic, no Philippine exhibitor shall be present physically as a safety measure. DTI’s Export Marketing Bureau will lead the preparations for business meetings before the event and pre-arrange the online meetings in the pavilion. DTI’s commercial attaches will represent the Philippine government and exhibitors, promote exhibitor brands and products onsite and relay all business leads and contacts generated in the show.
CIIE is the first import-themed, national-level expo in China that features international exhibitors across various sectors, with the goal to address the trade deficit of different countries to China and support trade liberalization.
“The Chinese market has a high purchase demand and CIIE endeavors to bring together numerous trade buyers and delegations all over China to the event, thus strengthening its position as a viable trade platform for companies looking to expand exports to China,” PTIC Shanghai’s Commercial Vice Consul Mario Tani said.
