DUBAI-BASED LOGISTICS FIRM TARGET MAG-INVEST SA PH

NAGPAHAYAG ng interes ang Dubai-based logistics company DP World na magtayo ng logistics hubs at isang industrial park sa Pilipinas, ayon sa Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Sa isang statement, sinabi ng DTI na nakipagpulong si Secretary Alfredo Pascual kina DP World Group Senior Vice President for Government Affairs Omar Al Muhairi at Group Senior Vice President for Corporate Finance and Business Development Anirudh Talwar sa Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) noong nakaraang Pebrero 25.

Si Pascual ay kasalukuyang nasa Abu Dhabi upang pangunahan ang Philippine delegation sa 13th World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference mula Peb. 26 hanggang 29.

“We see significant economic potential in collaborating with DP World to develop the Philippines’ logistics sector, including industrial parks, economic zones, and digital solutions,” sabi ni Pascual.

“We are committed to fostering an environment that encourages such partnerships by creating policies that promote sustainable development, foreign investment, and innovation in the logistics sector,” dagdag pa niya.

Sinabi ng DTI chief na ang planong investments ng DP World sa logistics sector ay nakahanay sa bisyon ng Pilipinas na maging susunod na logistics hub sa Asia.

Sinabi pa ng DTI na nagpapatupad din ang pamahalaan ng  strategic infrastructure projects sa pamamagitan ng  ‘Build Better More’ infrastructure program, na nakatuon sa pagpapaunlad ng seaports, airports, at  railways upang mapagbuti ang mahalagang  gateway accessibility at maisulong ang inobasyon.

Ayon pa kay Pascual, determinado ang bansa na makahikayat ng mas maraming foreign investments sa pagpasa ng mga batas na tulad ng Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises o CREATE Law na nag-aalok ng flexible incentives, at ng inamyendahang Public Services Act na nagpapahintulot sa full foreign ownership sa critical sectors.

Tiniyak din ni Pascual sa DP World ang tulong ng DTI sa pagkonekta sa kanila sa potential local partners para sa infrastructure projects.

Ang DP World ay isa sa nangungunang smart end-to-end supply chain logistics providers, na nag-aalok ng mga serbisyo tulad ng container handling sa ports, industrial parks, at economic zones. Nag-o-operate ito sa 15 ports sa buong mundo.

Sa sidelines ng conference ay nakipagpulong din si Pascual kay Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi.
