HINDI makapaglalaro si Dwight Ramos sa 2022 FIBA Asia Cup sa susunod na linggo dahil sa medial tibial stress syndrome o shin splints, ayon sa Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP).
“Ramos has been dealing with pain in his left leg for the past week but it has become too much to overcome as he could not join the team for practice anymore,” sabi ng SBP.
“We will definitely miss Dwight who’s one of our starters,” ani Gilas coach Chot Reyes.
Si Ramos ay bahagi ng final 12-man lineup na ipaparada ng Gilas para sa FIBA Asia Cup, kasama sina Kiefer at Thirdy Ravena, Carl Tamayo, SJ Belangel, RJ Abarrientos, Will Navarro, LeBron Lopez, Geo Chiu, Kevin Quiambao, Ray-Ray Parks at Poy Erram.
Gayunman, dahil sa injury bug, sinabi ni Gilas team manager Butch Antonio na hihingi siya ng pahintulot sa FIBA sa pre-tournament technical meeting sa Jakarta na palitan si Ramos ni Rhenz Abando bilang 12th player sa roster.
Si Abando ay kasama ng Gilas na lilipad sa Indonesian capital sa kabila ng pagiging reserve.
“That’s the value of having a pool and the reason why Rhenz is making the trip with the team,” ani Reyes.
Unang makakaharap ng mga Pinoy ang Lebanon sa July 13, pagkatapos ay ang India at New Zealand sa 15th at 17th, ayon sa pagkakasunod.
